NCBS Bluegrass On Broadway Festival Adds Three New Events For 2009
The 2009 edition of the NCBS Bluegrass On Broadway Festival will expand by adding three new events. The FREE festival is in Redwood City February 26-March 1.
* Thursday, February 19: The Big BOB Warm-Up Jam will get us all ready for the festival proper. 5th Quarter Pizza, 976 Woodside Road. NOTE NEW TIME: Begins 7:00pm, ends 10:15pm. This hot new jam in Redwood City will be lots of fun!
* Thursday, February 26: The Bluegrass Author Symposium features two bluegrass authors who have over 20 books between them…and great topics for the evening’s discussion. Lisa Aschmann will talk about creative bluegrass songwriting ideas. Roger Siminoff will tell us about the interesting life of Lloyd Loar of Gibson Loar Mandolin fame. There will be plenty of time for questions. Redwood City Main Public Library, 1044 Middlefield Road. 6:30-8:30pm.
After the symposium, we will all head over to nearby Angelica’s Bistro for Live Bluegrass Music with the Stoney Mountain Ramblers. 863 Main Street. 8:30-11:00pm. Reservations suggested (650) 365-3226.
* Friday, February 27: The After School Ice Cream Concert unites everyone’s favorite music with everyone’s favorite desert treat. The Tuttle Family with special guest A. J. Lee provide the top flight entertainment…and NO, we have no intention of depriving adults of either music or ice cream! Ya’ll come! Young’s Ice Cream and Candy Bar Emporium, 2020 Broadway. 4:30-6:00pm. This show will lead into the Friday evening shows to follow.
These are the “new for 2009 events” — check out the full festival listings under “2009 BOB Schedule” in the left column.
