Successful Thursday Evening Shows Open The NCBS BOB Weekend In Redwood City
The opening night of the 2009 NCBS Bluegrass On Broadway Festival is in the books and a fun time was had by all. Bluegrass authors Lisa Aschmann and Roger Siminoff drew a curious crowd, half library regulars wondering about bluegrass music and half bluegrass regulars wondering about the idea of “book talks.” The presentations about songwriting and Lloyd Loar and his famous mandolins turned out to be fun and interesting, books were sold, and then both groups headed off to see live bluegrass music with the Stoney Mountain Ramblers. The Ramblers wowed the library crowd and a house full of bluegrass fans with their blend of traditional bluegrass and tunes adapted from blues and country music. Angelica’s Bistro has good food. We are all looking forward to being back there for tomorrow’s big show with The Mighty Crows!
