NCBS Member Roger Siminoff and Former Member Rob Ickes Named IBMA Award Finalists

Northern California Bluegrass Society member Roger Siminoff and former member Rob Ickes have been named finalists for the 2009 IBMA Awards, voted on by members of the International Bluegrass Music Association. NCBS is a longtime member of the IBMA.

Roger Siminoff of Atascadero is a finalist for Print Media Person Of The Year for his work on Siminoff’s Luthiers Glossary, Banjo Newsletter and Bluegrass Breakdown.

Rob Ickes, formerly of Millbrae and now of Nashville, is a finalist for Dobro Player Of The Year, while his band Blue Highway is a finalist for both Vocal Group Of The Year and Instrumental Group Of The Year. With Andy Leftwich, he is a finalist for Instrumental Performance Of The Year for the recording “Angeline The Baker.”

The IBMA Awards will be presented on October 1 at the IBMA World Of Bluegrass Convention in Nashville.
