Late September Bluegrass Festival Time In Northern California

Just back from a fun Brown Barn festival, Northern California Bluegrass Society members are getting ready for some late September fun!  See you at these upcoming festivals:

Bluegrassin’ In The Foothills
Amador County Fairgrounds, Plymouth
September 18-20

The local bluegrass community appreciates your support of this event. L & S Promotions welcomes us to the 7th renewal of their fine festival with the express understanding that, if we all come, they will have us back again in 2010. Times are hard for festivals — if attendance is down, they won’t be doing it again. No one ever had a bad time at Plymouth — Larry & Sondra Baker always see to that. Having a weekend of bluegrass fun has never been so patriotic!

Millpond Music Festival
Millpond County Park, Bishop
September 18-20

Variety is the spice at this eastern California gathering. This is the 17th year for the eclectic festival of traditional music staged by the Inyo County Council for the Arts in a stunning location below the towering Eastern Sierras.

American River Music Festival
Henningsen-Lotus Park, Lotus
September 18-20

This 3rd annual festival is a celebration of Americana, folk, and blues music and moving water on the South Fork of the American River in the Coloma-Lotus Valley one-hour east of Sacramento.

Hobbs Grove Bluegrass Festival
Hobbs Grove, Sanger
September 25-27

Originally, the “King’s River Bluegrass Festival” and now named for it’s well-known venue, this Fresno-area gathering is now 10 years old and is now a California Bluegrass Association event. It has nice festival grounds down near (but not on) the river and good bluegrass music onstage and out in the camp.

Fick N Piddle Kinda Sorta Bluegrass Festival
Murphy’s Irish Pub, Sonoma
September 26-27

Brand new (kinda-sorta) pickin’ and fiddlin’ event with a wide variety of bluegrass and non-bluegrass bands held at this long-time music venue with an outdoor performance space in downtown Sonoma. Free, sounds like fun. The printed fliers are an exact copy of the early NCBS Brookdale festival fliers — makes you feel right at home!
