RBA’s Concert Season Off To A Great Start With Frank Wakefield

The 2009-2010 Redwood Bluegrass Associates concert series got off to a great start last evening in Mountain View with mandolinist and raconteur  Frank Wakefield. The irrepressible former East Bay resident returned from his home in Saratoga Springs, NY. at age 75 to make with music with some old friends and entertain the audience with his trademark “backward talking” stage patter.  ”An evening with Frank is not just a concert, it’s an experience,” said RBA president Dave Magrum. And, as “Wake Frankfield” would say, the music was pretty “bad,” too.

NCBS sponsors this excellent October-May series. Next: John Reischman & The Jaybirds on November 14th. More info on the RBA website. The Frank Wakefield Band concludes its mini-tour tonight at Don Quixote’s in Felton.
