The Henriettas, Saturday April 3 — From Bluegrass On Broadway To Prairie Home Companion
The Henriettas are on the move – from the stage of the NCBS Bluegrass On Broadway Festival in Redwood City on March 13 to the national live public radio broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion (from Seattle) on Saturday, April 3.
The American Public Media program will be broadcast on KQED Radio, 88.5FM on Saturday evening 6:00-8:00pm, in Northern California, and will repeat at 11:00am on Sunday morning, April 4.
Berkeley’s well-feathered duet Hilary Perkins (aka Nell Robinson) and Cary Sheldon will perform songs and humor from the 1930s Minnesota-based act The DeZurik Sisters (aka The Cackle Sisters). Not many folks know of the DeZurik’s work, but PHC host Garrison Keillor is a longtime fan. The booking was arranged personally by Mr. Keillor, who has also graciously agreed to play the “Radio Announcer,” a key role in The Henriettas act.

UPDATE: The duo did a fine job on 3 songs, two close to the beginning of the show and one more song during the second hour, with GK announcing and also joining in some on the harmonies. Excellent national debut for The Henriettas!…mh
