Two Festivals & More Bluegrass On This Holiday Weekend

Northern California Bluegrass Society members will be out in force over the holiday weekend, enjoying two festivals and many other live bluegrass offerings around Northern California.

The Festivals:

Strawberry Spring Music Festival, Camp Mather, Yosemite. May 27-31. Mostly a roots music festival, not a bluegrass festival, but when the the Strawberry folks book bluegrass (and those other roots), they do it right: Lyle Lovett, Richard Thompson, Desert Rose Band, Patty Loveless, Loudon Wainwright III, Marley’s Ghost, Crooked Still, John Jorgenson Quintet, 18 South, Quebe Sisters, Warren Hood and the Hoodlums,  Sara Jarosz, The Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit, Lubriphonic,  Brothers Comatose, Sweet Sunny South, Dala, Kerri Powers, Joy Kills Sorrow, The Mighty Avalanche Choir, MarchFourth Marching Band.  Strawberry is a longtime favorite of NCBS members.

Dabney-Hicks Family Reunion And Campout, Bolado Park, Tres Pinos.  May 28-30. Small and fun, this new festival is held on Memorial Day Weekend at Bolado Park (the August home of the NCBS Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival). This new event is NOT presented by the NCBS, but lots of our members will be there. High Country, Bean Creek, Kitchen Help, OMGG, The Courthouse Ramblers, The Seabright Beach Mountain Boys, Eddie DuCommun, The Mountain Music Jammers, Dan and Wendy Mills, Oak Grove, Pearly Blue, The Salinas Art Walk Bluegrassers, Dark Hollow, Jean Butterfield, The Central Valley Boys, Walter Dodd. No official festival website — call for more information:  (831) 521-7316.
