A Great Day At The 2012 Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair

A blue guitar for a bluegrass musician -- Cindy Fahrner, with her raffle prize donated by Sylvan Music.
The 27th Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair on May 5, 2012 enjoyed beautiful weather, great music, and warm community spirit. The annual early May gathering at the Duck Pond Stage in San Lorenzo Park is the oldest event event staged by the Society, and the main homage to the pioneer spirit of the early Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society volunteers.
Thanks to the NCBS/SCBS Bluegrass Fair Committee: Mike McKinley, Daniella Irish, Elicia Burton, and Michael Hall. And thanks to all of the many volunteers who did the hard work of bringing this free afternoon of bluegrass to the community!
Congratulations to all the raffle winners, and a note of appreciation for all the raffle tickets buyers, whose support pays the bills. The excellent crowd included folks from as far north as San Francisco and as far south as Los Angeles.
Santa Cruz is awash in outstanding bluegrass talent these days. Thanks to Bean Creek, Earthquake Country, The Abbott Brothers, and our host band, Harmony Grits.
And finally, we are grateful to NCBS member Leslie Abbott, who saved the day by discovering a mistake by the city parks department that would have left us without any power for the stage. Whew!
Up next: A full summer season of great festivals. See you where the music is!
