Let’s Go To The Fair: The Poppy Farm Fair & Bluegrass Jubilee is this Saturday in Aptos (just south of Santa Cruz). The 4-year-old event has been expanded into the newest Santa Cruz-area bluegrass festival. This NCBS-welcomed event will be fun for everyone!

When: Saturday, November 2, 2013, 10:00am-5:00pm.

Where: Native Revival Nursery, 2600 Mar Vista Drive, Aptos, CA 95003 (off of Soquel Blvd). This pleasant 3-acre venue is a nice place for music.

Cost: ONLY $5 — and each ticketholder will receive a $5 off coupon to use at the nursery. This will be a very affordable day of music and fun. There will be plenty of tickets at the door.

Performance Schedule:

Gates open at 10:00am.

10:30 — Jean Butterfield

Noon — Jayme Kelly Curtis with special guest Gail Dreifus

1:30pm — Beer Wine & Turpentine

3:15 — Bean Creek

The fair will end at 5:00pm.

Other Fun: Over 20 craft booths will let you get your holiday shopping off to a good start. There will be goats to pet, an opportunity to learn about and examine good native California plants, a fire for roasting marshmallows, the NCBS Information Booth, garden art, and food. There will be plenty of room for jamming.

Directions: The Native Revival Nursery is at the end of Mar Vista Drive, off Soquel Blvd in Aptos, next to Santa Cruz.

From Highway 1 South (coming from Watsonville): Take State Park Drive exit; turn right onto State Park Dr.; turn left onto Soquel Dr.; turn left onto Mar Vista Dr.

Easy free parking is available at the Aptos Grange, right across the street from the nursery.

Bring: Folding chairs, layered clothing, and (optional) marshmallows and sticks.

Weather: A cool, pleasant fall day is in store — Sunny, High 68, Low 48.

After The Fair: If you are coming from out of town and don’t want to head straight home, Santa Cruz is a fun place to be on Saturday evening. There are excellent local restaurants and a wide variety of live entertainment, including several good bluegrass shows. The NCBS Information Booth will have suggestions for your Saturday night enjoyment. The Santa Cruz area is known for its array of reasonably-priced accommodations if you decide to stay overnight.
