This album was originally released on the Old Dominion label in celebration of America's Bicentennial celebration in 1976. The recent events of September have brought a strong patriotic revival and the songs in this collection certainly speak strongly of American Pride. It's certainly a diverse collection. Chuck Berry's "Back in the USA" is done in a true bluegrass style complete with a banjo playing the original Chuck Berry leads. "Under The Double Eagle" also features strong banjo work and the instrumental medley with America the Beautiful is a stirring arrangement that should close every bluegrass festival this year. Of course, Jim and Jesse's trademark duo singing is showcased on the CD. Their voices blend in the traditional "Log Cabin in the Lane" and two gospel numbers from the Louvin Brothers. It's a great collection of songs and certain to stir the old red, white and blue feelings in everyone. |
