Keith Little's voice is the one that's been in great demand lately. He is featured on many other CDs as a harmony vocalist and it is nice to see his voice featured on almost all the cuts here. Several of Keith's songs are featured here including "Before The Prairie Met The Plow" written with Billy Joe Foster and influenced by the Kevin Costner movie, "Dances With Wolves." Keith also wrote "Weary Ol' Highway," a tribute to the traveling troubadour and his guitar. The song "Where Dear Friends Will Never Part" is destined to be a classic; it was inspired by some lines written by Roscoe Keithley's mother on the bottom of an old Victrola. Claire Lynch adds harmony vocals on several songs, and Keith sings her "Home On The Highway." Keith has also picked some classic songs from the past. "Been All Around This World" is from the singing of Grandpa Jones. "Down Among the Budded Roses" from the singing of Vern Williams, "Caroline Mountain Home" from the Stanley Brothers and "Distant Land to Roam" from the original Carter Family record. "Please Come Back Little Pal" also comes from Vern Williams and features the band playing at bluegrass speed. The CD ends with the instrumental "Chief Sitting Bull" featuring Jim Wood on fiddle. |
