Jesse Brock has been playing bluegrass music for over 20 years. He was in the Brock Family Band and is now part of the Lynn Morris Band. Jesse is joined by Rob Ickes, Ron Stewart, Tom Adams, Lynn Morris and Marshall Wilborn and the instrumentals all shine with this stellar group of musicians. Frank Wakefield's "New Campton Races" has Jesse's blistering rendition. "Home Sweet Home" is done Earl Scruggs style with double guitar work from Jim Hurst and Ron Stewart. Two of the songs were written by Jesse while staying in California and "Kickin' Grass" has a hard-driving sound with Jesse's staccato mandolin licks pacing Jason Carter's fiddle work, Rob Ickes' dobro and Tom Adams' banjo. Alan O'Bryant joins Jason in song from the singing of Lester and Mac - "You're The Best of All The Leading Brands." Jesse also sings other country classics, "She's No Angel" and "Mother Knows Best." Jesse himself sums up the record best himself: "I wanted it to be perfect...and have an edge to it that inspires every musician." |
