Longview has been together since 1995 and this third album shows that the magic still works for the six members of the band. Don Rigsby, Dudley Connell and James King have been the lead vocalists in their own bands, but together the harmonies they produce are vocal treasures. Their three voices blend in the title cut, "Lessons in Stone," with its message of living life well. The strong, fluid banjo playing of Joe Mullins is coupled with Don's strong mandolin chops and Dudley's guitar in the hard driving "I've Lived A Lot in My Time" and "You Can Mark It Down."

Dudley and Don join in a fine duet "You Left Me Alone" which should please fans of their duet albums. "The Lost Cave" is Glen Duncan's minor key fiddle masterpiece with his wondrous fiddle playing augmented by strong leads from the other band members. "A Few More Years" features James King's distinctive lead vocal embellished with instrumental and vocal support from the rest of the band. Fans of Longview will want to add this album to their collections and the album will no doubt earn them some new fans.
