This is the fifth release by Continental Divide on Pinecastle Records and it showcases the fine talents of all the band members. There is strong instrumentation and Ben Greene's banjo, and fiddle work by Steve Day and Glen Duncan propel the driving rhythms in several songs. There are songs of love found and lost and fortunes made and gone with the whims of dusty fields and bottomland floods. David Parmley brings his strong lead vocals and three Bluegrass Cardinals favorites "Up and Down The Mountain," "32 Acres of Bottom Land," and "Wake Up," to his new band. The instrumental "Onion Creek" and the fast-paced "My Saro Jane" remind us that this band can produce hard-driving bluegrass with the best of the bands. The album closes with the George Jones classic, "Our Bed of Roses," and David wrings out every bit of emotion in the song and leaves the listener wanting more. |
