Eddie and Martha Adcock have been charming audiences for some time, and they are often called the "Sonny and Cher of bluegrass." Their live performances have the added fun of their humor and Eddie's unique banjo and guitar lead solos in the same song, accomplished "on the run." This new collection features six original songs and other songs by A.P. Carter, Jimmie Davis and Carter Stanley. These two sing wonderful duet harmonies and their voices blend into one pure sound. "Have Thine Own Way" is one song that they've written that has a traditional gospel sound that should become a classic. "Something To Be Finding" is Martha's song about searching for satisfaction and her gentle voice is backed by Eddie's melodic patterned banjo playing. "Let's" is an Eddie Adcock original and is an invitation to spend life following mutual interests from climbing high mountains and walking together - it's like reading a lovelorn ad looking for the perfect match! "I Am A Pilgrim" is done in a slow, fingerpicked style and showcases Eddie's talents as a guitarist. He also puts his banjo and guitar talents to work in an instrumental version of "Redwing" that features his unique blend of bluegrass, jazz and country with a rocking lilt. Don Reno's "It's Grand to Have Someone To Love You" might just sum up the album - it's grand to have this collection of loving, happy songs done by a very special pair of musical talents. |
