Boulder Creek Bluegrass & Old Timey Festivals

Put on by Eric & Barbra Burman and sponsored by the NCBS, the Brookdale Bluegrass Festivals were wintertime indoor festivals held between 1999 and 2009 at the now-closed Brookdale Lodge . The Winter 2009 Festival was held in Bonny Doon. The festivals are now held in Boulder Creek with the main stage at Scopazzi’s Restaurant.  The events are now known as the Boulder Creek Bluegrass & Old Timey Festival and is held three times each year, in March, July, and December. Cabin Fever Festival Fun: The annual (since 1998) winter Brookdale Bluegrass gathering offers the chance to enjoy the fun of a summer festival amidst the seasonal rains in Northern California. Indoor performances and jams will help chase away the December bluegrass blues! The weekend event is welcomed by the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

Tickets: Plenty will be available Online in advance for $30 and at the door for $35.

Directions:

From The San Francisco Bay Area: Go west on Highway 92 to Half Moon Bay, then left (south) on Highway 1 for 25 miles. From Santa Cruz: Go north on Highway 1 for 25 miles.

Costanoa Lodge is south of the town of Pescadero, halfway between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz, off the east side of Highway 1. The address is 2001 Rossi Road, Pescadero, CA 94060.

Weather: This is an indoor festival.  Outside: Partly Cloudy. FRIDAY NIGHT: Low 44. SATURDAY:  High 60, Low 44.

Services: Costanoa offers a nice restaurant and bar and a camp store for your convenience. The nearby town of Pescadero has several restaurants and stores, plus a gas station. The Highway 1 Brewing Co. is a few miles up Highway 1 from Costanoa.

Brookdale Bluegrass will bring The Naked Bootleggers, The Rainy Day Ramblers, Blue Shoes, and Bluegrass Roundup among other bands to Costanoa Lodge & Campground near Pescadero on December 12-13.

The Costanoa Winterfest 2014 will feature jamming on an admission-free Friday evening and band performances and workshops on Saturday.

The Northern California Bluegrass Society has welcomed all Brookdale Bluegrass events since 1998, dating back to the early days at the Brookdale Lodge in Boulder Creek. The twice-yearly (December & March) gathering has been held on the coast since 2013.

Scott Gates (of the The Salty Suites) and Eric Antrim (of the Knock On Wood Players) have been added to the line-up for the December 12-13 Costanoa Winterfest 2014 at Costanoa Lodge & Campground near Pescadero.

The festival is presented by Brookdale Bluegrass and welcomed by the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

Admission-free Friday day and evening is reserved for jamming. Saturday will feature a full schedule of performances, with jamming to follow.

Onsite lodging and camping is available throughout the weekend.
