Our longest running event (since 1987), this FREE show is usually held the first Saturday of May at the Duck Pond Stage in San Lorenzo Park, in sunny downtown Santa Cruz. In 2011, it will be held on Saturday, May 21st.

The details:

Date & Time: Saturday, May 21, Noon-5:00pm.

Place: Duck Pond Stage, San Lorenzo Park, next to the courthouse in downtown Santa Cruz.

Cost: FREE.

Weather: Perfect: Afternoon sun, High 66.

Bands: Harmony Grits, Down Beets, Windy Hill, Jimmy Chickenpants, Slide Road.

Food & Drink: Available for purchase or bring your own. No alcohol, please.

Dogs: No.

Bring: Blanket or chairs for lawn seating.

Parking: On street, in downtown garages, or at the left side of the courthouse.

Raffle: Yes.

Directions: From Highway 17, continue on Ocean Street into Santa Cruz, past Water Street, then right into the Santa Cruz County Courthouse parking lot, to left of building, park and walk to Duck Pond. Alternate: Park on the streets surrounding the park. Alternate: Park in downtown Santa Cruz and cross the pedestrian bridge into the park. (The Duck Pond Stage is behind the Lawn Bowling Ball courts.)

The 25th annual Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair is FREE, FUN, and THIS SATURDAY in Santa Cruz. The Noon-5:00pm show is at the Duck Pond Stage in San Lorenzo Park, 134 Dakota Avenue, on the banks of the San Lorenzo River near the courthouse.

There will be food and drink, a sunny afternoon, and a raffle.

The Bluegrass Fair is presented by the Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society (NCBS/SCBS) and is the oldest outdoor concert series in Santa Cruz.

The Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society is presenting the 25th annual Bluegrass Fair in San Lorenzo Park, May 21st from noon to five PM. Featured bands include: Harmony Grits, Windy Hill, Slide Road, Jimmy Chickenpants and The Down Beets. In addition there will be food vending and a raffle featuring tickets to California music festivals, and musical instruments. FREE.

The fair is the oldest event presented by the NCBS/SCBS and a beloved rite of spring for the local bluegrass community.

The FREE 2011 Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair Is Third (Not First) May Saturday

32201111111159pmThe 2011 Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair will NOT be held on this weekend’s  usual First Saturday of May due to a one-time date conflict. It will be held on the THIRD SATURDAY, May 21. Other than the date change, it will still be the same fun time. The Fair is FREE. Food and drink will be available, and an excellent raffle including tickets to the summer season’s many bluegrass festivals, is planned.

The band line-up for the Noon-5:00pm concert at the Duck Pond Stage in San Lorenzo Park, Santa Cruz is Harmony Grits, Slide Road, Jimmy Chickenpants, Windy Hill, and The Down Beets.

The Fair is the oldest outdoor public concert series in Santa Cruz and the longest-running event presented by the Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society (NCBS/SCBS).
