Due to continuing wet and foggy weather, the NCBS Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair has been postponed. The new date will be Saturday, May 30th. Join us then under sunnier skies!
Tonight’s show by the Kathy Kallick Band is at Mission City Coffee Roasting Co., safe from the tender mercies of springtime storms. In other words, it’s still on, so you can still have some bluegrass on this Saturday.
As of Friday afternoon it’s raining in Santa Cruz, but we are still hoping weather will clear for the Bluegrass Fair tomorrow, May 2nd. It’s scheduled from noon to 5 PM at the Duck Island Stage in San Lorenzo Park. Current forecasts call for a 30% chance of showers tomorrow, which is more promising than earlier forecasts. We will update the site tomorrow morning with final confirmation whether the show is on or has to be postponed. Keep your fingers crossed!
Long-time NCBS/SCBS leader Mike McKinley was present in Owensboro, KY. in 1986 when the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) launched “May — Worldwide Bluegrass Music Month” to start in the spring of 1987. He made sure that the Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society got in on the fun down at the Duck Pond Stage in downtown Santa Cruz.
Over the past 23 years, the NCBS/SCBS Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair has become the world’s longest-running celebration of Bluegrass Month. But your Society observes this important holiday all month long with special events and gatherings as well as ongoing regular events. Come on out and join us:
