1 — Last Day For NCBS Members To Register With IBMA Member Advance Discount For International Bluegrass Music Association World Of Bluegrass.

13 — Boulder Creek Bluegrass & Old Timey Festival, various venues, Boulder Creek (NCBS-welcomed).

15 — Last Day To Purchase Discount Advance Tickets To Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival.

AUGUST

6 — Last Day For Mailed Ballots To Be Received For NCBS Election.

8-11 — 20th Annual Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival.

10 — NCBS Board Of Directors Election At GOF Festival.

Last RBA Jam This Season To Be Held At May 18 Tuttles Concert

The last Redwood Bluegrass Associates jam for this season will be held before The Tuttles With A. J. Lee concert on Saturday, May 18, 2013. The FREE open jam will begin at 5:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church Of Mountain View, at the corner of Cuesta and Miramonte in southern Mountain View.

Ed Cirimele will host the jam, which will run until the concert begins at 7:30pm that evening.

The NCBS welcomes all RBA events.

Earl White Band To Perform At Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair May 4

The Earl White Band (Santa Cruz) will bring a touch of old-time music to the 28th Annual NCBS/SCBS Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair on Saturday, May 4, 2013.

The FREE afternoon of music will run Noon-5:00pm at the Duck Pond Stage, San Lorenzo Park, 134 Dakota Avenue, Santa Cruz.

Also on the bill: Harmony Grits, Homefire, Bean Creek.

This beloved Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society “Rite Of Spring” will offer free music, a great raffle with festival tickets, food & drink, and a look ahead to the coming outdoor bluegrass season.

No dogs or alcohol, or smoking, please.

Circle R Boys Return To Good Old Fashioned Main Stage August 8-11 In Tres Pinos

circle-r-boys-cd-coverThe Circle R Boys (Berkeley) will bring their traditional bluegrass sound back to the main stage of the 20th Annual Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival, August 8-11, 2013.

The festival is a benefit for the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

The jam-friendly event is held at Bolado Park in Tres Pinos (7 miles south of Hollister). Tickets are now on sale.

NCBS President Michael Hall To Help Lead IBMA Leadership Retreat

Northern California Bluegrass Society President Michael Hall will help lead an International Bluegrass Music Association Leadership Bluegrass Retreat April 19-21, 2013 at Fall Creek Falls State Park in Tennessee.

The retreat will focus on some key long-range issues facing the IBMA organization and the bluegrass music community. Participants will represent associations, artists, agents, record companies, music retailers, publicists, teachers, festival and concert promoters, songwriters, print and electronic journalists, and broadcasters from around the world.

Hall is a Class Of 2003 Leadership Bluegrass graduate and a longtime IBMA volunteer. The NCBS is an organizational member of IBMA.

The Tuttles With A. J. Lee Set For May 18 Redwood Bluegrass Associates Concert

The Tuttles With A. J. Lee (Palo Alto) will appear in a Redwood Bluegrass Associates concert on Saturday evening, May 18, 2013.

The concert is the last of the 2012-13 season and will be held at the First Presbyterian Church Of Mountain View. The Northern California Bluegrass Society-welcomed series will return in the fall.

Showtime is 7:30pm. The concert will be preceded by an open jam starting at 5:00pm.

San Lorenzo Park, next to the courthouse in Santa Cruz, will welcome the Saturday, May 4, Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair. The FREE event will take place at the Duck Pond Stage from Noon-5:00pm.

The Bands: Bean Creek, Earl White Band, Harmony Grits, & Homefire.

A raffle will feature tickets from the upcoming bluegrass season festivals. Food and drink will be available. Please do not bring dogs or alcohol. Bring a a blanket or chair for lawn seating.
