My name is Davis and do booking for The Milk Bar's Bluegrass & Beyond Sunday weekly show.

I wanted to reach out to any interested bands in playing our Sunday weekly series. We're located at Haight & Stanyan- across from Golden Gate Park. The shows are FREE thus providing plenty of exposure & foot traffic. They take place in the afternoon-early evening.

We usually book 2-3 bands every Sunday, do a guarantee total of $150 or 10% of bar (whichever higher) to be split evenly between all bands, We also provide food and drink hospitality to all bands as well. This June 8, 2013 will bring us another SDBS/NCBFC Bluegrass Day at the Del Mar Fair. Once again we encourage all bluegrass lovers to become involved with the great activities planned for this year. Full details for the day can be found at:

Beginning the day will be the always inspiring Chidren's Program putting the future of our bluegrass and old time music in San Diego on display.

Shortly after will begin the band scramble allowing all participating musicians to play their favorite instruments in mini-concert with other randomly selected band members. Groups and individuals will be adjudicated and awarded prizes for performance. Great fun and great for self-confidence towards becoming a better picker! Fun as well for the audience to help select the best of the day with their applause. Deadline for Band Scramble guaranteed passes for you and a guest is May 10. See the website for all details.

A great lineup of NCBFC and SDBS member bands will provide 40 minute concerts for the rest of the day until 8PM that night.

Volunteers are always needed. I guarantee your Bluegrass day will be enhanced by volunteering to help with some aspect of the program. If a musician, you can get close to others and get tips or jam partners. If a fan of the music you will most certainly meet some great folks you did not know and come away with an expanded circle of friends, never a bad thing!

Flyers and forms are attached for both volunteering and getting the information in for Band Scramble participation.

Now in its 27th year, this fundraiser for KPFA is a 16-hour extravaganza hailed by Deadheads and music lovers around the world, who can access the fun via the airwaves and streaming on the web.

Hosted by David Gans with help from Tim Lynch, the 2013 Marathon will feature exclusive music by the Mickey Hart Band – in advance of their upcoming tour – a live in-studio performance by Sycamore Slough String Band, interviews, hours of tasty audio featuring rare tapes from the Grateful Dead vault, and more.

Dear music friends...

I am excited to announce that we will be hosting a house concert at 7:00pm, on Thursday, March 21, 2013, featuring Eddie and Martha Adcock. As many of you know, Eddie Adcock was the banjo player with the famed group The Country Gentlemen whose configuration from 1960-1964 featured Charlie Waller (guitar), Eddie Adcock (banjo), John Duffy (mandolin), and Tom Gray (bass). In my estimation, this was one of the finest bluegrass bands ever, and I attribute much of that to Eddie Adcock who I believe is one of the finest banjo players ever.

Eddie has agreed to give a one-hour banjo workshop if I can assemble enough banjo pickers interested in learning from this master. It will be held at our home at 4:00pm on the day of the concert (Thursday, March 21, 2013) and the cost is $30.00 per person. The workshop will be followed by a light dinner (for workshop attendees) and if you are staying for the concert, you'll be able to hang here until concert time (7:00pm). If you have not already rsvp'd to my previous alert to this workshop, please rsvp now for the workshop and concert. I need to have an early head count so Eddie can plan his schedule.
