FANS, FRIENDS AND FAMILY - We wanted to thank you so much for your support of the recent Freight and Salvage gig - not only the quantity (a riotous full house!) but the quality. Your warmth, generosity and enthusiasm sparked the magic vibe of the evening. Make no mistake - YOU were the stars of that show and on behalf of the band and myself, I want to make sure you know how much we appreciate the best fans in the solar system.

The band is back to woodshedding our new material in preparation for the next CD recording - hopefully to start in October. We already have just about enough new stuff plus a couple of tunes we've been saving from past sessions.

Houston Jones has a number of special gigs coming up this month, as we prepare for our September travels to Kansas and the Walnut Valley Festival. As always - see our website athoustonjones.com for details:

This Friday August 6th we're at Mission City Coffee in Santa Clara.  This is a Fiddling Cricket Concert, sponsored by our very good friend Dick Brundle and will feature a “tweener” set by our comrade, folk god Michael Stanton.  Plus, we’ll be plucking and plunking on Dave Stafford’s “Friday Folk Off” show on KKUP 91.5 at 5:00 p.m. before we head over to the gig, so please tune in.

Saturday August 7th we’re off to the Sutter Creek Theater - another great old establishment in the middle of the foothills gold rush country. This one includes very special guest - Mr. Joe Craven, with his usual virtuosity, haberdashery and maxillofacial skeletal artifacts.

Sunday August 15th - The Good Old Fashion Bluegrass Festival in Los Pinos (near Hollister) - we play at noon —big fun in a beautiful setting (you can camp).

The following weekend, we head North, first to the Six Rivers Brewery in McKinleyville, CA on August 20th, and then to the Friendship Hall in Pistol River, Oregon on the 21st for a show sponsored by the Pistol River Concert Association.  This is our first time at both these venues, so anyone within the sound of the surf up there on the North Coast, please come on by and tell your friends.

We finish out the month at one of our favorite venues, the Cameron Park House Concerts in, as the name might suggest, Cameron Park CA.  Simply a wonderful place to play and hear music.   That’s August 28th, at 8:00 p.m.—go to our website for contact and reservation info.

And speaking of the solar system – don't forget the Perseid meteor shower peaks the nights/early mornings of August 12th and 13th. If you can get to a dark, clear sky you should be able to see at least several meteors per hour.

Your Friend,
Pismo Pete Tucker
