On March 7, another free-for-members violin maintenance clinic is being offered by Steve Joynes Violins (aka The Fiddle Guy) in association with The Santa Clara Valley Fiddlers Association. Not a member? No problem. Join up that day and receive what is normally a $60-$75 service for the cost of an annual membership, only $15! He will clean your instrument, make adjustments, and advise you of any repairs it may need. He'll be checking bridge and sound post position, string clearances and action, peg and fine tuner lubrication, and other issues that will get your instrument in top shape. Got an interesting violin you'd like an opinion on? Or a garage sale instrument you'd like to restore? Feel free to drop by, shake and howdy, and talk fiddles. The Santa Clara Valley Fiddler's Association has a monthly jam at Hoover Middle School, 1635 Park Ave, San Jose. 1-5 p.m. on the first Sunday of every month. The organization supports all traditional music styles. For more info go to http://www.scvfa.org
