Rick Sims will be hosting an oldtime jam at the Fifth String music store on the 4th Saturday of each month beginning at 6pm till 10pm.  The first jam will begin on October 24th.  For those not familiar with old time music, most of the time people are picking lead together ie. fiddle, banjo, mandolin, or even guitar might be playing at the same time and sometimes while someone is singing.  A lot of the tunes are fast and very energetic.  This is a good opportunity to improve on playing melodies and playing up to tempo.  Because of the wide variety of tunings fiddle and banjos use, we will begin playing tunes in the key of G then A, C, D, then modal tuning in order to keep the tunes flowing.  So for some fun come and join the jam on October 24th at 6pm.
