Join us this Sunday, May 2, 2010, for the Santa Clara Valley Fiddlers
Association's monthly jam from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the Hoover Middle
School (1635 Park Ave. at Naglee, San Jose). Visit http://www.scvfa.org more
information. I am the Jam Manager this month.
KIDFIDDLE WORKSHOP
Nancy Solomon will teach our KidFiddle workshop at 2:00. It's for
youths 16 and under and the cost is only $5. Workshop participants
have an opportunity to play what they learned on stage.
Beginners Circle - come to find out who's teaching it this month.
Share your music-related experiences with us. Attending a special
event? Scottish Fiddlers? Music festival? Music camp? Write a short
article and email it to me. It can be long too. Photos are a great
addition.
Can someone help take notes at our trustees meetings, or help with
newsletter stapling, folding, stamping and labeling? All members are
welcome to attend our trustees meetings and the next one is scheduled
for Sunday, May 16 at 2-5 PM. Location TBD (to be determined).
On July 4 and August 1 our jam will be in the San Jose Municipal Rose
Garden Park less than 2 blocks down the street from the school. Mark
you calendars now!
The SCVFA now owns the Fiddlers.org domain. Type in 'fiddlers.org' or
http://www.fiddlers.org and you'll see. This is a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity to continue our mission to preserve fiddle music and tell
the world about the SCVFA and its members.
Your donations help us to underwrite our KidFiddle Workshops and our
annual Youth Fiddle Contest. The 1993 archival CDs are “Thank-You”
gifts for your donations. The door charge is still only $5 and our
yearly membership is still $15, which includes the Fiddler's Rag sent
to your home. Next semester, the cost of renting the school cafeteria
is going up too.
Fiddlingly yours,
Richard Brooks (email (President@scvfa.org) President (at) scvfa (dot) org)
