Douglas Morrisson Theatre is seeking upright bass player; fiddle + other instruments player; and pedal steel guitar player for production of HANK WILLIAMS: LOST HIGHWAY at the DOUGLAS MORRISSON THEATRE, 22311 North Third Street in Hayward, CA, Information on production and about upcoming Audition* are below.

How to Arrange an Appointment:   To schedule an appointment, please submit a request to the director, Ben Randle, at ( hwilliams (at) dmtonline (dot) org. You may also contact him for more information.

What to Prepare:   

ALL (actors, singers and musicians): Be prepared to read sides from the script.

Musicians: Please bring instruments. You will be asked to play a song from the show with a guitarist/ bass accompaniment during your audition. Please prepare your own piece preferably in an old country/bluegrass style with the intention that you will be accompanying yourself on your chosen instrument.

Singers: Please be prepared to sing 16 to 32 bars of a song of your choosing.  If you wish to sing with accompaniment a pianist will be provided.  Please bring your music scored for piano and in the key in which you sing.

HOSS (upright bass player; vocal range = baritone/ bass; age range = 20s-30s)

LEON (LOUDMOUTH) (many instruments, featured on fiddle; vocal range = baritone/ tenor; age range = 20s – 40s)

SHAG (pedal steel guitar; vocal range = tenor/ baritone; age range = any age)

TEE-TOT (African-American; vocal range = bass or baritone, age range = Mid-30s-60s)

AUDREY WILLIAMS (vocal range = alto/ low soprano, age range = Able to play 20s)

REHEARSALS:   The rehearsal period is March 1 through April 15.   Rehearsals are held evenings and weekends at the Douglas Morrisson Theatre.

Compensation/Stipends:  Stipends are available. Non-AEA.    

PRODUCTION DATES:   Hank Williams: Lost Highway will be performed April 16 through April 26.    Performances will be at 8:00pm on April 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25.   Matinees will be at 2:00pm on April 19, April 25 and April 26.   Ten performances in total; please note these performances include one Wednesday performance on April 22 and one Saturday matinee on April 25
