Soldier Stories: A Benefit Concert for Veterans Health Care
Please join us for an evening of bluegrass and roots music to honor American service-members and veterans of all wars, with special notice of those in Iraq and Afghanistan, along with their families.
Our country has had a long history with war. This evening’s music is personal and from a variety of perspectives, reflecting soldiers’ experiences, and those of their families and friends. The songs date from before the American Revolution to the present conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The proceeds will go to health projects at Disability Rights Advocates and Swords to Plowshares, two non-profits on the forefront of securing the promises we make the soldiers who serve their country.
A heavy burden is being carried by a small number: by joining us tonight and bringing your friends, you will have an opportunity to enjoy good music, reflect on our relationship to war and honor those who have served us and their country, often at great sacrifice. Over half a million veterans still await promised mental health care. Thirty-three percent of all homeless men in the US are veterans. They need our help.
