Join us this Sunday, August 2, for another fun afternoon at the San
Jose Rose Garden Park (Naglee and Dana streets). It is only 2 blocks
from the Hoover Middle School, our usual location (1635 Park Ave., San
Jose). Bring your lunch or buy it at the deli in Zanotto's Family
Market down the street at 1988 Naglee Ave.
September 6 - Band Scramble (at the Hoover School)
On September 6, The Santa Clara Valley Fiddlers Association
(http://www.scvfa.org) will try a “Band Scramble” where we draw a name for
each instrument category until we have a band. The choice will not
depend on style or level. Anyone who wants to play on stage in the
band can enter the drawing. Bands will have time to choose a name and
to practice. Since we have not done this before, we are working on the
details. Help me decide how to do this. How many numbers to play (one
to three)? Should we vote on the best name or best band? Should we
give a prize? If so, what?
October 4 - Special concert and WORKSHOP for adults and youths
Two OUTSTANDING professional musicians will perform a mini-concert and
teach a 90 minute workshop open to everyone adults and youths.
Workshop enrollment will be limited and there will be a charge with
all funds going to the musicians.
Paul Anastasio (from Seattle) on fiddle (http://www.swingcatenterprises.com) and
Tony Marcus (from Oakland) on guitar (http://tuxedorecords.com/TM/index.html)
Fiddlers and guitarists will both enjoy this workshop open to
everyone. Look for details in the September Fiddler's Rag.
